Date: 6th October 2006
Venue: Marriott Hotel Gosforth Park
More than 300 guests dug deep to raise cash at the Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund’s annual Sunflower Ball to try to beat last year’s total of £20,000.
Stars including TV’s Pam Royle, Jonathan Morrell and Carol Malia, turned out for the event at the Marriott Hotel in Gosforth. Geordie favourites Ant and Dec sent a video message championing the good work the fund does and urged people to give generously throughout the evening!
As well as being entertained with a ‘fun’ casino, magician and palm reader, guests also enjoyed music provided by the Paul James Band.
There was an auction which included a guitar signed by Paul Weller, signed Newcastle United goodies and a years worth of haircts and treatments kindly donated by Toni and Guy..
Generous Harriet Povey, aged 11, of Bedlington was allowed to stay up past her bedtime as a thank you for helping the charity’s cause.
Instead of presents for her birthday, she asked relatives for money, which she then donated to the Sunshine Fund.
