The Fun & Sport Club, annual late Christmas Party

Date: 25th April 2007
Venue: The Assembly Rooms, Fenkle Street, Newcastle

The annual late christmas party was a sell-out this year, and although the tragic death of one of English football's greatest sporting legends, Alan Ball, was on everyone's minds, a good time was still had by all.

Held at the Assembly Rooms, guests enjoyed a evening meal with comedy, entertainment, raffle, auction and an emphasis on having fun!

Organiser David Haggath, who has been organising late christmas dinners since 1998, said he thoroughly enjoyed the party this year

“John Stiles (Nobby Stiles’s son) did some stand-up ... he really is one of the best comics in the country" Steve Daley also gave an after-dinner talk.

The Sunshine Fund received all of the proceeds from the Auction held on the evening, and thanks to the generous guests that bid, raised over £6,000.

Jo Harris, Sunshine Fund manager commented “We are always grateful to the Fun and Sports Club for their help, and the money they help to raise always goes a long way for equipment that North East children might not be able to get.”
