Last ticket to ride!
Date: 20 April 2008
Venue: Metroland, Metrocentre
Metroland, Europe’s largest indoor theme park, which has been part of the MetroCentre for more than twenty years, closed its doors to the public for the final time on April 20th.
Owner, Arlington Leisure wanted to close the fun park on a high, and decided to hold it’s ‘Last Ticket to Ride’ closing party in aid of the Sunshine Fund.
Andrew Bailey, Metroland manager, said: “The families in the North East have supported us incredibly over the years, and for that we are continually grateful.”
“Metroland has helped many charities in the region, however we all felt that ncjMedia titles the Evening Chronicle, Sunday Sun and Journal, have been extremely supportive of us.
“This is why we donated the proceeds from Last Ticket to Ride, and raised over £2,500 for the Sunshine Fund.”
The Sunshine Fund would like to thank Jackie Marsden from JAM Marketing for working with Metroland and organising the closing party.
