Chef of the Year

On Thursday 17th May 2007 the cream of North East chefs, restaurateurs, hoteliers and leisure operators were present at St. James Park in Newcastle upon Tyne to enjoy a full evening of local fayre and discover who will walk away with the title of North East Chef of the Year 2007.
This annual dinner marked the conclusion of two full days of culinary competition between catering colleges and professional chefs from all over the North region organised by The North East Culinary Trade Association (NECTA).
Also, this year's competition saw the incorporation of the prestigious Hospital Caterer's Association's annual cooking tournament and a new cocktail class for bar persons and mixologists from the region.
£2,390 was raised from the raffle and auction and donated to the Evening Chronicle's Sunshine Fund.
