Sunshine Run, supported by ITPS
Date: Wednesday 8th July 2009
Venue: Newcastle Gateshead Quayside
Hundreds of Sunshine Fund supporters gathered on Newcastle Gateshead Quayside to raise funds for sick and disabled children. Now in its eighth year, the Evening Chronicle’s Sunshine Run continues to inspire people to put on their running shoes and complete the scenic 5km route.
This year’s run was started at 7pm by Sunshine Fund VIP patron, and double Paralympic champion, Stephen Miller. Accompanied by steel band music from Newcastle All Stars and Kingsmeadow School Steel Band, groups of friends and co-workers from across the region made their way along the course on the quayside footpath before crossing the Millennium Bridge to finish on Baltic Square.
Thanks to our event sponsors, ITPS (IT Infrastructure Specialists) and the help that we receive from Gateshead Harriers, the 2009 Sunshine Run should raise nearly £20,000 for the Sunshine Fund.
