The 57-year-old, who has competed against Olympic, European and Commonwealth gold medalists, is to present prizes at the end of the charity’s annual triathlon which takes place in Ponteland next month. Sunshine Of Their Lives 10 July 2010 These are the names of the dedicated runners who pounded the streets of Tyneside to help improve the lives of disabled children. Everyone single one of them can be proud to have taken part and completed the 5km Sunshine Run. But more importantly, they can give themselves a big pat on the back as organisers estimate that at least £13,500 will have been raised from their efforts. While some serious club runners managed to complete the course along the Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside in less than 20 minutes, for most the run was a chance to put the fun into fundraising. The event took place on Wednesday night and was started by Sunshine Fund patron and Paralympic champion Stephen Miller. The run was sponsored by Gateshead-based information technology company ITPS. But not content with providing support to the race, the company also put together a team of runners.
