A mountain of cash

Challenge rakes in £5,000 for our fund
Yvonne Greenwood organised the team and is proud of what they have achieved.
She said: “I would just like to thank the drivers Karina Blades, Mark Boorman,
Ronnie McTurk and Kevin Topping who weren’t involved with the challenge but kindly took collection boxes on their buses and helped us fill them.
“And also to our passengers who kindly donated their change. Without their help the total wouldn’t be that big.”
The Sunshine Fund provides equipment to children with disabilities. Much of the equipment needed by people who apply to the fund can make a huge difference to children’s lives.
But, due to cost and funding restrictions it is not usually available from normal resources and the local authority does not provide funding for this kind of equipment, so the Sunshine Fund, when they can, will step in.
Jo Harris, Sunshine Fund manager, said: “The team from Go North East have made a remarkable effort to achieve what they have.
“Not only have they trained to complete the physical end of the task, they have also excelled themselves in raising money for the charity, which is absolutely brilliant and we cannot thank them enough.”
Anyone who is interested in raising money for the Sunshine Fund, or who would like more information about it, is asked to call Sunshine Fund manager Jo Harris on (0191) 201 6289.
